Co-first authors Marcus Bray and Timothy Lenz, co-principal investigators Glass and Williams, and other COOL team members including Anton Petrov and Jessica Bowman published exciting new findings in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences on November 9, 2018. The article was edited by Nobelist Ada Yonath. The new results showed that metals that were abundant on the early Earth, iron and manganese, can replace magnesium ions in the translation system.
