The Shcherbik and Pestov Lab's New Website

Professor Natalia Shcherbik and Professor Dimitri Pestov of Rowan University have announced their website is now live at riborowan.com. They are collaborating with COOL center PI, Loren Williams, to learn more about the ribosome. The Shcherbik and Pestov research labs aim to understand how cells manage defects in ribosome biogenesis and what happens to malfunctioning ribosomes. They look to address the cooperation between the ubiquitin-proteasome system and co-translational quality control. In addition, they are interested in the signaling processes of mammalian ribosome biogenesis and how changes in ribosome homeostasis contributes to human disease. Their studies have shown that environmental factors may induce molecular damage to ribosomal components, leading to disruption of the ribosome.
