Research Interests:

Burak's research interests are broadly ribosomal architecture and translation, drug targeting, molecular mimicry, and origins of life. His special focus is currently small ribosomal subunit and its architecture and dynamics. He is using biochemistry, chemistry, biophysical chemistry, analytical chemistry and microbiology approaches in his studies. Molecular cloning, protein expression and purification, RNA transcription and purification,  yeast three hybrid system, site-directed mutagenesis, chemical probing, SHAPE (Selective 2'OH acylation analyzed by primer extension), protein and nucleic acid engineering, circular dichroism spectroscopy, UV absorbance spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, UV/CD melting, EMSA (electrophoretic mobility shift assay), dynamic light scattering, gel electrophoresis, capillary electrophoresis, affinity chromatography, molecular modeling, molecular dynamics simulations are some of the methods he is employing in his research.
